Celebrating excellence: Meet the 2026 BCCFP Award Recipients

Posted On March 23, 2026

Behind every award recipient is a story. A patient whose life changed because their family physician treated them as a whole person, a colleague who watched them navigate a complex case with grace, or a community that depends on someone who could have practised anywhere but chose to stay.

Nominated by the people who know their work best – their patients, their peers, their communities – this year's BCCFP Award Recipients represent the unique and irreplaceable role of family medicine.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a nomination this year!

We're honoured to introduce the 2026 BCCFP Award Recipients!

Dr. Anita Ka-Fai Wong is a Langley-based physician who has spent 32 years in family medicine building lasting impact. As medical director at the Langley Foundry, she provides gender-affirming care, mental health, and sexual health services to youth, and has been instrumental in developing the foundational frameworks for gender-affirming care at the site. Her nominators describe someone who has led quietly and shaped care in her community for decade, and whose influence will continue through the generations of physicians she has mentored and supported.

Our urban award recipient, Dr. Mannan Wang, practices in New Westminster and is engaged in systemic work to improve equitable access to primary and maternity care. And our rural recipient, Dr. Jacqueline Erickson, is based in Campbell River and serves Indigenous and remote communities across Northern Vancouver Island through her addiction medicine work.
