A Message from Dr. Jennifer Lush, BCCFP's Incoming President

Posted On January 21, 2026

As Dr. Jennifer Lush steps into her role as BCCFP President, she shares her vision for championing family physicians and the vital role they play across British Columbia:

Having been on the board of the BCCFP for the past two years, I have seen the commitment of the many family doctors from across BC and in varied practices who comprise the board, and who believe so genuinely in family medicine as the foundation of BC's healthcare system. I have seen the dedication of our executive director and her expert staff who work so hard to support family doctors and the strategic priorities of BCCFP with such energy and integrity.

We have seen how relationships between patients and their family doctors change outcomes and how fragmented care fails our patients. The work you do each day as family doctors makes a profound difference to your patients and your communities.

I am deeply honoured to step into the role of BCCFP president and, along with the dedicated staff and board members of this organization, continue to champion family physicians and the indispensable role they must continue to play in BC's healthcare system, and to ensure you have the necessary supports to function in that role regardless of where or how you practise family medicine.

I commit to advocating for you with the same passion with which you advocate for the patients under your care each day, and to celebrating the profession and the individuals within it as the remarkable force for good they are in this province.

I look forward to the year ahead for family medicine in BC!
